What we’re doing

Technology, techne, craft—we humans define ourselves as toolmaking animals. First we make our tools. But then the unexpected happens. Our tools remake us.

How Tech Feels is a series of freshly written essays that explore how technologies shape us—our perspectives, our relationships—and how, through them, how we remake the world. Here, tech’s creators and critics share their personal origin stories. Together their voices form a larger narrative about where our technologies might be headed and who, in turn, we might become.

If you are interested in sharing or writing an essay, please contact info at howtechfeels dot org.

We are seeking personal stories from tech’s shapers that explore their relationships with a particular technology (computation and artificial intelligence, biotech, particle physics, etc.). Essays should explore how the technology has informed and continues to inform the their relationship with the people and world around them.

Please send a query with a detailed summary of the essay rather than the whole piece.
